Contract (13 weeks with possible extension) | Days, 4x12 Hours (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM) | Every other weekend required | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a high-volume Medical Surgical / Telemetry unit managing complex medicine, orthopedic overflow, and long-term patients at a 1:5 to 1:7 patient ratio
• Perform and manage telemetry monitoring, central line care, PICC line management, peripheral IV placement, and heparin protocols
• Deliver care including tracheostomy management, wound care and wound vac, surgical drain management, and blood product administration
• Utilize and respond with Rapid Response and Code teams as needed
• Provide orthopedic trauma and total joint replacement patient care, including feeding tube care and management
• Serve in a charge nurse capacity and float to other units as required

Required Qualifications

• Active New York State RN license – must be in hand at time of submission, no exceptions
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in Medical Surgical / Telemetry nursing
• Demonstrated experience with a 1:6 patient ratio (must be able to manage 1:5 to 1:7)
• Charge nurse experience required
• Active BLS and NIHSS certifications required – valid NIHSS must be included at time of submission
• Proficiency with EPIC charting – hard requirement

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), various oxygen delivery systems, and portable oxygen management
• Familiarity with pacemaker management (temporary and permanent) and isolation precautions
• Phlebotomy skills and experience with complex, long-term patient populations
