Accountant I

Georgia State University is seeking to hire an Accountant I. This position is responsible for performing duties in the maintenance of accounting records for Office of Disbursements.

Duties and Responsibilities Include:

• Review and process invoices within Panthermart and Spectrum ensuring proper PO matching (2-way/3-way), accurate chartfield coding, compliance with GSU and USG policies.
• Support daily AP operations including voucher entry and validation, payment support, vendor payment tracking inquiries, and reconcile vendor statements. Request invoice as needed. Provide customer service to external and internal customers via phone and email.
• Monitor and resolve various exceptions and errors: voucher build, matching exceptions, closed or over-invoiced PO issues.
• Respond to basic inquiries from campus departments, vendors.
• Provide guidance on invoice submission, payment status inquiries.
• Assist in reviewing routing reports (voucher status, unmatched transactions).
• Support monthly and annual close identifying and incomplete or pending items.
• Assist with data gathering for audits and reporting requirements.
• Identify and escalate issues such as missing documentation, incorrect pricing or quantities, unmatched receipts or invoices.

Qualifications:

Minimum Hiring Qualifications: Bachelor's degree, or high school diploma or GED and four years bookkeeping or accounting experience, or a combination of education and related experience. Must be bondable for some positions.

Preferred Hiring Qualifications: Effective verbal, listening and written communication skills. Ability to organize and prioritize workload. Analytical and problem-solving skills. Time management skills.
