Duties

Help

You will serve as a Family Advocacy Program Coordinator (Clinical) and be responsible for providing expert oversight and implementation of the Family Advocacy Program and to ensure high quality, standardized and uniform service delivery across the CG, operating within the framework of the CG Wellness and Support Services enterprise and WFSC chain of command.

Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include:

  • Provides expert technical guidance and oversight to Family Advocacy Specialists, Regional Managers, commanders, and senior leadership on high-risk family cases.
  • Conducts clinical oversight and quality reviews to ensure compliance with Coast Guard policy, federal law, and DoD standards.
  • Develops, interprets, and implements Family Advocacy Program policies, SOPs, and Technical Directives in coordination with CG-WFS-1 and WFSC leadership.
  • Develops and implements Family Advocacy Program training and technical directives in coordination with program leadership.
  • Responds to complex program issues involving commands, legal authorities, medical providers, and external agencies using professional judgment and discretion.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements: This position has a positive Education Requirement in addition to at least one year of Specialized Experience or substitution of education for experience or combination (if applicable) in order to be found minimally qualified. Transcripts must be submitted with your application package. You MUST meet the following requirements:

EDUCATION:

Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position.

OR

Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

OR

Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

AND

To qualify at the GS-13 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis.
  • experience providing clinical and technical oversight of a human services or behavioral health program, including consultation on high-risk cases, multidisciplinary coordination, and application of professional standards in a military or comparable organization.
  • Experience developing, interpreting, or implementing program policy, SOPs, Technical Directives, or quality assurance processes, including audits, peer reviews, and corrective action planning to ensure compliance with federal or organizational requirements.
  • Experience planning, delivering, or overseeing standardized training programs, credentialing processes, or professional development for clinical or human-services staff across multiple locations.
  • Experience working in domestic violence, child maltreatment, interpersonal violence, or trauma-informed care, including assessment, case management, referrals, and coordination with legal, medical, and protective services.
  • Experience collaborating with senior leaders, commanders, legal staff, medical providers, and external agencies to resolve complex programmatic or operational issues.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Student Loan - Selectee(s) for this position who are newly appointed to a permanent or term position may be eligible for student loan repayment up to $10,000 (pre-tax) for one calendar year. More than one loan may be repaid if the combined repayments do not exceed $10,000. Receipt of this incentive will require a three-year service agreement.
