Sr. Financial Analyst (Anesthesiology & Critical Care Medicine)

We are seeking a Sr Financial Analyst who will manage and process financial transactions involving clinical, joint agreement funds, general funds, and gift and discretionary accounts for the Department of Anesthesiology & Critical Care Medicine. They will assist in the development of the annual divisional budgets and projections for half of the department's divisions and fellowship programs, oversee budget loading and reconciliation, extract and analyze financial data, generate monthly financial reports, and monitor revenues and expenditures across various business lines. The role requires comprehensive financial analysis to improve divisional financial effectiveness while ensuring compliance with JHU, JHH, and agency regulations. Specific Duties & Responsibilities Maintain a broad understanding of the financial positions of the various divisions throughout the department. Perform complex financial analysis to assist management in establishing financial goals and objectives. Extract financial data from various accounting and information systems and prepare quarterly divisional financial reports and monthly reports for the leadership team. Interpret data to determine fiscal year performance and project future financial trends. Present quarterly financial reports to assigned Divisional Chiefs. Monitor and approve departmental expenditures throughout the fiscal year, ensuring funds availability and adherence to Department and University policies, including SAP, Concur, PCARD, and Petty Cash. Process and post monthly financial transactions such as KB15N's, journal entries, and cost transfers for both JHU and JHH. Review and approve travel reimbursements, online payments, payroll/non-payroll cost transfers, and check deposits. Regularly meet with and serve as a finance resource for divisional staff. Assist with creating new and maintaining existing Faculty and Clinical Associates Compensation Plans. Perform monthly salary reconciliations to ensure salaries are charged and allocated properly, reviewing Control Salary and mitigating potential overpayments. Assist in the monthly close out process and perform monthly reconciliations on accounts. Maintain department SAP roles and access rights, initiating new IO and Cost Center requests, new vendor requests, and other SAP maintenance functions as required. Assimilate information from various sources to draw conclusions and effect process, procedure, and reporting changes. Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions, independently interpreting technical guidelines, policies, and procedures. Identify weak or non-existent administrative processes and develop corrective action plans with leadership. Automate and streamline reconciliations, workbooks, and other reports. Leverage automation and successfully lead divisional tasks, collaborating with departmental leaders on higher-level financial projects to improve reporting quality and performance. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field. Five years of progressively responsible related financial experience. Additional education may substitute for required experience, and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula. Preferred Qualifications Advanced knowledge of SAP accounting system practice and implementation within the Hopkins environment.
