Our organization is currently in search of a Physician to serve as the Chief of Pain Medicine, overseeing the comprehensive operations of the Pain Management Program. In this role, you will be accountable for the clinical care delivered within the Pain Medicine Service. Your responsibilities will include ensuring that both clinical and administrative functions are harmonized to maximize the use of available resources, which encompasses maintaining the quality and promptness of services, enhancing customer satisfaction, and adhering to relevant standards.

Work Schedule: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday (Outpatient Only)

On-Call Requirements: Not Required

Compensation:

• A Recruitment/Relocation Incentive may be available for an exceptionally qualified candidate.

• Salary range: $250,000 to $340,000.

• This position qualifies for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP).

Qualifications:

Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not feasible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.

A Doctor of Medicine degree or an equivalent qualification from an accredited institution recognized by the Department of Veterans Affairs is required.

Must possess a current, unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, including the District of Columbia.

Completion of residency training in an accredited core specialty program approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs is mandatory, leading to eligibility for board certification.

Key Responsibilities:

You will provide guidance to leadership regarding policy implications, significant issues, and relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, while recommending appropriate actions. You will also maintain collaborative relationships with other departments to achieve the medical center's objectives. Your role will involve coordinating and resolving complex issues, preparing special reports, responding to Congressional inquiries, and managing other service-related correspondence as needed. Additionally, you will collaborate with various disciplines to ensure comprehensive patient care, utilizing your professional expertise and a broad range of concepts and methodologies.

Paid Time Off:

Federal Retirement Plan:

• Employees are enrolled in the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS), which consists of a three-tiered retirement plan : 1) Social Security benefits, 2) FERS-RAE basic benefits (pension), and 3) Thrift Savings Plan (TSP), similar to a 401(k) plan.

• The pension is funded through automatic contributions of 4.4% from the employee's salary each pay period, with an additional 12.2% contribution from the organization , totaling 16.6% of the employee's salary annually .

• The TSP allows employees to defer a portion of their income each year, with contribution limits set by the Internal Revenue Service. For 2020, employees under 50 can contribute up to $19,500, while those over 50 can make catch-up contributions up to $25,500.

• The Federal Government provides an automatic basic contribution (1% of salary) and up to 4% in matching contributions , depending on the employee's contributions.

• Retired military personnel will receive these benefits in addition to their full monthly retirement pay or pension.

• FERS also includes health care insurance coverage for retirees .

• Disability Retirement options are available.

• Employees become vested in a federal pension after just 5 years of service .
