Department Overview Reports to: Director, Global Restaurant Sustainability Location: Chicago, McDonald's Headquarters High-Level Job Summary This candidate will further develop and execute McDonald's global circularity approach with a focus on packaging, key materials used within the value chain, and recovery systems. They will drive measurable business value aligned with our NEXT corporate strategy, regulatory readiness, and brand reputation. They will lead strategic engagement and coordination of partnerships (internal and external), program management, and reporting Accountabilities & Responsibilities Further develop, execute, and evolve McDonald's global restaurant circularity approach in partnership with markets and global functions (supply chain, finance, legal, development, government relations, marketing, operations etc.) and external partners. Translate vision into clear business cases, frameworks that encourage adoption across different regional contexts, communication throughout all levels of the organization, and data & reporting schemes that will drive value. Support country level teams and actions including, facilitate best practice sharing with and amongst market teams and collaborate to develop innovative programs and models that will enable further circularity action at an industry level and within countries where we operate. Stay ahead of emerging trends, technologies, and regulatory shifts in circularity, recovery, and waste systems globally. Manage and deliver global packaging, toys, waste, circularity reporting and metrics (internal and external), in partnership with other relevant Global teams (e.g., supply chain). Provide subject matter expertise on material choices, impacts, and trade-offs. Integrate circularity approach with our climate action plan and reporting. Contribute to internal and external ESG communications, engagement, and reporting activities. Manage relationships with consultancies and supplier partners. Build, lead, and influence strong external partnerships with industry collaborators, NGOs and consultants. Partner with Government Relations to inform regulation, policy, and advocacy approaches. Qualifications Experience working in global, decentralized organizations and leading change management campaigns including strategy development and implementation. Deep knowledge of circularity principles, waste systems, packaging, and related materials in restaurant or retail environment. Experience with measurement and reporting on packaging and waste volumes while navigating complex networks of stakeholders and suppliers. Experience navigating or engaging on Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) and related regulatory frameworks. Bachelor degree is required. Preferred: Experience related to finance, sustainability-related marketing, supply chain, packaging design for circularity, operations, and/or regulatory issues Knowledge of circularity-related NGO landscape and global issues Competencies and Mindset Strategic systems thinker and excellent executor.
