Job Title: Quality Control Chemist

Chemical company in South Gate is looking for a QC Chemist to join their team!

The Quality Control Chemist is responsible for testing and inspecting products at various stages of the process to ensure their quality and reliability. The role involves compiling and evaluating statistical data to determine quality standards, and performing a range of duties to support the quality control process.

Responsibilities

• Perform quality control tests on incoming raw materials and finished goods, including making necessary batch adjustments.
• Prepare or obtain Certificates of Analysis or quality documents as required, and scan them into the BUS system.
• Prepare standard reagent solutions and ensure lab equipment is in good working order.
• Standardize pH meters, densitometer, viscometer, and refractometers as recommended by the manufacturer.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in the laboratory and surrounding areas.
• Provide dye and dye solutions to the plant for production purposes.
• Test hazardous wastes and returned goods as requested.
• Maintain appropriate documentation in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.
• Dispose of or retain samples as per regulations.
• Adhere to all company policies and procedures, and attend required training sessions.
• Represent the company in a professional manner.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize work with minimal supervision.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to operate laboratory equipment such as balances, viscosimeter, densitometer, and spectrophotometer.
• Strong mathematical skills, including algebra and statistical inference.
• Ability to read and interpret job-related documents.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a related field required.
• 1-2 years of experience in chemistry or quality control testing.
• Hands-on experience with analytical testing.
• Eagerness to learn and develop skills in the field.

Work Environment

The work schedule is Monday to Friday, from 7 AM to 3:30 PM, with the possibility of transitioning to an 8-5 PM schedule after a month. This position is a 3-month contract to hire. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of South Gate, CA.

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $26.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in South Gate,CA.
