Job Description

A New York private equity and private credit firm is hiring a Vice President or Senior Vice President of Finance and Operations. The firm invests in middle-market sustainable infrastructure businesses, and its team draws on long experience in project development, structured finance and operations to back strong management teams through periods of significant growth. Its portfolio spans solar power, battery storage, hydroelectric generation, energy efficiency, electrified transport and sustainable fuels, with a particular focus on distributed energy and on-site, behind-the-meter applications.

The role reports directly to the Managing Partner and carries broad ownership of the firm’s financial and operational activities. It is a hands-on position, suited to someone who wants to build and run the operational backbone of a growing alternative asset management platform.

Responsibilities:

• Own the firm’s finance and operations function, including vendors, insurance, payroll and benefits, information technology and office operations
\n
• Supervise and mentor the Controller, who handles day-to-day bookkeeping, fund accounting, tax, audit and cash management
\n
• Produce limited partner (LP) reporting, investor materials and environmental, social and governance (ESG) and impact reporting, support fundraising, and work with the investment team on portfolio company financial matters
\n
• Oversee treasury across the management company and fund entities, including capital call timing, liquidity planning and banking relationships
\n
• Maintain and build out the firm’s regulatory compliance program under Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Investment Advisers Act rules, and its cybersecurity and business continuity plans
\n
• Oversee budgets and financial models for the management company, and covenant compliance under the firm’s credit facilities
\n
• Improve systems and processes across accounting, reporting and portfolio monitoring as the platform grows

Requirements:

\n

\n
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field; CPA or MBA a plus
\n
• At least 10 years of progressively responsible finance and operations experience at a middle-market private equity fund
\n
• Strong working knowledge of fund accounting, capital calls and distributions, waterfall structures, net asset value (NAV), subscription lending and LP reporting
\n
• Familiarity with SEC and Investment Advisers Act requirements; experience of audits, regulatory exams or compliance programs strongly preferred
\n
• Advanced Excel skills, experience with fund accounting systems and a working knowledge of AI tools
\n
• Sound judgment, discretion and a builder’s mentality, with the confidence to work directly with the Managing Partner, investors and auditors, and a genuine interest in taking on more scope as the firm grows
