Sr. Manager, Bioinformatics

Illumina seeks a senior manager to lead a bioinformatics team supporting clinical genomics products, including oncology and reproductive health applications. The role requires overseeing assay development, regulatory submissions, and commercialization while partnering across R&D, software, and commercial functions.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of bioinformatics scientists while promoting collaboration and technical excellence
• Manage bioinformatics activities for Clinical Genomics product development, including portfolio prioritization and resource allocation across programs
• Oversee validation and deployment of analytical methods and bioinformatics workflows for customer-facing software and regulated products
• Collaborate with R&D, Software Engineering, Regulatory, Quality, and Commercial teams to achieve program and business objectives
• Partner with customers and commercial teams to support product adoption, troubleshoot technical challenges, and gather feedback

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree and 12+ years of related experience, or PhD in Bioinformatics/Computational Biology/related field with 8+ years experience
• 3–6 years of management experience leading bioinformatics teams
• Experience with regulated products (IVD, CDx, FDA, IVDR frameworks)
• Expertise in next-generation sequencing, genomics data analysis, and bioinformatics pipeline development
• Proficiency in Python, R, and Linux-based bioinformatics tools and environments
• Track record supporting customer adoption and commercial deployment of genomics solutions
• Strong communication, stakeholder management, and organizational leadership abilities

Compensation: $170,600–$255,800 base
