Registered Respiratory Therapist

This position is responsible for performing basic and critical respiratory care services. The role requires the ability to work independently as well as provide supervision and guidance to others, as delegated. The therapist will provide respiratory care for adult and geriatric patients suffering from respiratory diseases, following physician orders and current department policies. The role includes completing necessary paperwork, electronic medical records, flow sheets, and charges for each patient.

Education and Work Experience

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent: Preferred
• Master's Degree: Preferred
• Three years of technical experience: Preferred

Licenses/Certifications

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (NBRC-RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (NBRC-CRT) credential: Required in CA, OR, and HI
• Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license: Required in CA
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per policy: Required
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification from approved vendor per policy: Preferred
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from approved vendor per policy: Required
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from approved vendor per policy: Preferred
• Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS) certification: Preferred
• Registered or Certified by the National Board of Respiratory Care: Required

Essential Functions

• Assess and document the appropriateness of prescribed therapy, including recommendations for patients receiving respiratory care services.
• Administer aerosol and oxygen therapy while maintaining charts.
• Draw arterial blood gases per policy and physician order.
• Provide care to ventilator patients.
• Assist in departmental record keeping and operations, including training and supervision of new employees.
• Document care provided and maintain records of treatment.

This position is a day shift opportunity, requiring 36 hours per week and experience with EPIC and Cerner systems is essential.
