Role Description The School Business Manager is a full-time, on-site role located in Baker, LA, responsible for overseeing the financial and business operations of City of Baker Schools. This role manages budgeting, financial reporting, and expenditure monitoring to ensure compliance with district policies and applicable regulations. The School Business Manager coordinates payroll, purchasing, contracts, and vendor relationships, while maintaining accurate records and supporting audits. Day-to-day tasks include preparing financial analyses, supporting grant and funding management, and advising school leadership on resource allocation and cost efficiency. The role also involves collaborating with administrative staff, providing guidance on financial procedures, and helping to improve operational processes that support the district’s educational goals.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in school, public sector, or nonprofit finance, including budgeting, accounting, and financial reporting.
• Proficiency with financial management software, spreadsheets, and data analysis tools used in education or public administration.
• Knowledge of school business operations, including payroll, purchasing, contracts, and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
• Ability to work collaboratively with district leadership, school staff, and external partners, maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, public administration, or a related field; advanced degree or relevant certification (such as CPA or CSBO) is a plus.
• Experience in K–12 education or a similar public school environment is highly desirable.
