Data Engineering Solutions Specialist

Power of data at scale has transformed almost every industry, personalizing experiences in many aspects of our lives. Yet in healthcare we’ve only scratched the surface. At Genentech and Roche we are accelerating the use of data insights and digital technologies to make significant strides to reach the full potential of personalized healthcare. Data will be used to inform the research and development of our PHC integrated solutions that will be used to facilitate healthcare decisions by patients, physicians, health authorities, payers, and policy-makers. We are seeking mission-driven, ardent, self-starting, creative individuals to join us in this effort.

The successful candidate will work directly with cross-functional informatics, ML/AI, and scientific domain expert teams across the organization to design, implement, and deploy high-quality, sustainable data engineering solutions for multiple types of data and data modalities.

• CS/EE (or related areas e.g. Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Economics) or CBiochemical Engineering with focus on systems and data engineering with 6++ yrs in the industry.
• 6+ years of Data Engineering/Software Engineering experience within the full software development lifecycle from planning through deployment and maintenance
• Expertise coding in Python, advanced SQL and (preferred) one additional language (Java, R, Julia, C++).
• Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and scale data workflows and/or scientific computing workflows; including deployment and delivery of production-ready model APIs
• Expertise with Pandas, SciPy, scikit-learn and (preferred) R/tidyverse and related ecosystems, including relational (SQL) and non-relational (no-SQL) DB technologies.

• Expertise building data pipelines using AWS Glue, Airflow and Python Pandas.
