It is about making sure the right material is in the right place at the right time so our production teams can build quality products and our customers receive them when promised.We are looking for a Material Planner who wants to grow their career in automotive supply chain and become a critical partner to our manufacturing operation. This is a development-focused opportunity for someone with a foundation in material planning, production control, purchasing, logistics, or supply chain who is ready to take on greater responsibility and develop into a well-rounded supply chain professional.You will learn how customer demand translates into production requirements, how those requirements drive supplier schedules, and how to proactively manage the risks that can disrupt production. Working alongside Purchasing, Production, Logistics, Quality, Shipping, Receiving, and Customer Service, you will develop the skills to manage supplier relationships, inventory, shortages, launches, engineering changes, and the day-to-day challenges of a fast-paced automotive environment.Plex ERP experience is highly preferred, but we are equally interested in candidates who have the right supply chain foundation, analytical ability, curiosity, and drive to learn.What You’ll Learn and OwnCreate and maintain supplier schedules and forecasts within Plex ERP.Initiate JIT lean tool strategiesLearn to identify material risks before they become production disruptions.Monitor supplier performance and work directly with suppliers to address delivery issues.Manage daily material shortages, prioritize critical issues, and develop recovery plans.Build your understanding of planning parameters including lead times, MOQ, safety stock, supplier capacity, and inventory requirements.Partner with Purchasing, Production, Logistics, Quality, Shipping, Receiving, and Customer Service to resolve supply chain issues.Support engineering changes, new program launches, and end-of-life material planning.Analyze supplier capacity and identify risks that could affect production or customer delivery.Support initiatives designed to reduce inventory while protecting production continuity.Build your ability to use data and reporting to identify trends, solve problems, and improve supplier performance.Participate in continuous improvement initiatives that improve planning accuracy, scheduling efficiency, and material availability.Maintain accurate records of supplier communication, recovery actions, planning data, and follow-up activities.Your Development PathThis role is designed to give you progressive ownership and exposure across the supply chain organization. As your knowledge and capabilities grow, you will have opportunities to take on more complex suppliers, higher-risk materials, launch activity, inventory initiatives, and cross-functional projects.The goal is to develop you into a well-rounded material planning professional who can independently manage supplier schedules, anticipate supply risks, influence supplier performance, and understand the connection between customer demand, inventory, production, and cost. Working closely with Purchasing to address supplier development opportunities.What You BringBachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Industrial Engineering, Logistics, or a related field preferred.Approximately 3 years of experience in shipping and receiving, purchasing, managing orders, material planning, supplier scheduling, production control, logistics, or supply chain within an automotive or manufacturing environment.Understanding of JIT, Lean Manufacturing, MRP, and automotive supply chain principles.Experience working with an MRP/ERP system; Plex experience is highly preferred.Strong Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data analysis.Ability to analyze information, identify problems, and determine priorities.Strong organization and follow-through with the ability to manage multiple priorities.Strong communication skills and the confidence to work directly with suppliers and cross-functional partners.Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where priorities can change quickly.APICS/ASCM certification is a plus.How We’ll Measure Your SuccessYour impact will be visible in the things that matter most to our customers and our plant:Material Availability: Keeping production supplied and avoiding line disruptions.Supplier On-Time Delivery: Holding suppliers accountable to agreed schedules.Production Continuity: Preventing downtime caused by material shortages.Inventory Accuracy & Turns: Maintaining the right inventory without unnecessary excess.Manage Freight Schedule Attainment: Provide 3 PL with weekly schedules.Freight and Cost: Identifying issues early enough to avoid costly expedites.Schedule Accuracy: Ensuring supplier schedules reflect actual customer and production requirements.Problem Prevention: Moving from reacting to shortages to anticipating and preventing them.Why This Opportunity?If you're ready to move beyond simply maintaining schedules and want to understand why the schedule matters, how the entire supply chain connects, and how your decisions impact production, customers, and cost, this is an opportunity to build that expertise.You'll gain exposure to the full material planning process while working in a collaborative automotive manufacturing environment where your ability to analyze, prioritize, communicate, and solve problems will make a direct impact.We're not just looking for someone who can manage today's material schedule.
