The team you will be a part ofThe Material Management team is responsible for inventory audits and maintaining inventory at optimum levels. Develops procedures to enhance the effectiveness of inventory control programs. Coordinates with relevant departments to schedule, audit, and reconcile periodic physical inventories. Oversees incoming shipments of merchandise to ensure that inventory is accurate, updated and provided according to schedules.This role in summaryWhirlpool is seeking a qualified candidate for the role of Materials Lead. The role will be based at our Perrysburg, OH plant. As the materials lead for the site, you will be responsible for supporting the operation of a world class plastic injection molding facility, striving to be the benchmark for Whirlpool in automation. In this challenging role, you will be called upon to lead your team to drive continuous improvements to safety, quality, delivery, and cost of the process.Your responsibilities will includeSet strategy for the materials organizationLead inbound and outbound shipments for the facilityLead for materials planning and scheduling for the facilityLead for all internal material movementResponsible for inventory managementResponsible for all inventory movement equipmentPrioritize and organize short term and long term goals and activities in accordance with business objectivesIdentify and address opportunities for improvement relative to Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost metrics and personnel development. Managing supplier relationships Lead capital projects to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost.Lead process implementation, process optimization, root cause analysis, and capacity increasesFacilitate projects and teach / mentor / train shop floor teams to ensure materials team operates in World Class fashionWork cross-functionally with other teams to drive solutions. Develop team in advanced problem-solving and skill trainingSupport building and operating a highly automated facilityWork effectively with your peers to share knowledge and leverage strengthsUtilize excellent communication and documentation skills to transfer critical processes and support knowledge to othersLead and promote the use of kaizen activitiesWork with the procurement team and supplier quality on cost and quality projects Minimum requirementsBachelor's Degree engineering, logistics, materials or related business management field5+ years manufacturing experiencePreferred skills and experiencesOperations management, logistics, supply chain, Industrial Engineering, or similar degree preferredExperience in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and SAPStrong understanding of lean principles and methodologies with a proven track record in driving continuous improvement via lean toolsExperience in World Class Manufacturing (WCM), Logistics (LCS)Experience with AGC / AGV technologyExperience setting up new processes and optimizing existing processes.Experience leading teamsDrive initiatives to support change in the plantVerbal and written communication skillsOrganizational skills and attention to detailTime management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlinesAdditional informationWhirlpool’s Ways of WorkingOur goal is to provide an environment that helps you bring your best to Whirlpool every day.
