Urgent Care Veterinarian Opening in Richmond, VA Area, With Mentoring

Job Description

Job Description

Veterinary Urgent Care in central VA (east of Richmond) is an independently owned, four-doctor practice bridging the gap between primary care and emergency services. We provide compassionate, high-quality care for dogs and cats with illnesses and injuries that cannot wait for a regular veterinary appointment but do not require a full emergency hospital.

We’re looking for a veterinarian who values excellent medicine, teamwork, and community care. Join a collegial team that enjoys discussing cases, sharing knowledge, and supporting one another. Mentorship is available from four experienced doctors, including opportunities to learn and grow in a collaborative environment.

Our facility and team offer:

• Modern equipment, including digital radiography, complete in-house laboratory with coagulation testing, ultrasound, endoscopy, a fully equipped surgical suite, PureVET oxygen tents, and a separate isolation area with its own entrance.
• A well-supported clinical team, with highly trained assistants, licensed veterinary technicians, and client service representatives to help keep visits efficient so doctors can focus on practicing medicine.
• 4:1 on each shift.
• A varied caseload, from skin infections and vomiting to surgical cases and patients requiring transfer to a 24-hour emergency hospital.
• A welcoming, well-equipped workspace and a supportive team culture.
• Willing to mentor a newer graduate with four experienced Veterinarians on staff.
• Great team with a collegial atmosphere. Enjoy discussing cases and sharing information.

Schedule and benefits:

• Approximately 13 shifts per month.
• Three days per week is full time, four days when working the weekend.
• Daytime and evening hours: Monday–Friday, noon–8 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 8 a.m.–6 p.m.
• No ER call.
• Benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, vacation leave, a 401(k), and employer matching.
