Key Responsibilities of the RN – CVOR:
Provide specialized nursing care for patients undergoing cardiovascular and thoracic surgical procedures
Prepare operating rooms, equipment, instruments, and supplies for complex cardiac surgeries
Function as a circulating nurse while ensuring a sterile and safe surgical environment
Collaborate closely with cardiac surgeons, anesthesiologists, perfusionists, surgical technologists, and perioperative staff
Monitor patient status throughout procedures and advocate for patient safety at all times
Assist with surgical counts, specimen handling, and adherence to infection prevention protocols
Support emergency and scheduled cardiovascular procedures including CABG, valve repairs, and vascular surgeries
Maintain accurate documentation of surgical procedures and patient care activities
Requirements:
Minimum 2 years of recent CVOR RN experience
Active Louisiana RN license or Compact RN License
BLS and ACLS certifications required
CNOR certification preferred
Strong knowledge of cardiovascular surgical procedures, sterile technique, and perioperative nursing standards
Experience working in high-acuity surgical environments
Ability to work 8-hour day shifts and participate in call schedules as required by the facility
