Youth Worker

Commonpoint (formerly Commonpoint Queens) is a 501(c)(3) non‑profit community center serving over 10,000 persons of diverse backgrounds in Queens. We are currently looking for Youth Workers to staff our special education after‑school program at our Bay Terrace, Bayside location. Salary is based on experience. Strong preference for candidates who can commit to five days a week, from 2:30pm to 6:00pm. Some extended hours and occasional weekend opportunities are available. Responsibilities Supervise children between the ages of 5 and 14 years old. Complete and monitor daily attendance sheets. Plan and implement daily activities and programming. Maintain classroom space in an organized and clean fashion. Chaperone youth from one activity to another, including arrivals and departures. Work collectively and communicate with all peers, classroom staff, floor supervisor, and program director. Attend youth worker training sessions and staff meetings. Qualifications Open to all ages, including high‑school aged students. Excellent communication skills – friendly, engaging, and patient with children, peers, and families. Attention to detail and problem‑solving skills. Ability to work well with others in a team environment. Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize daily workload. Demonstrate cultural competency through familiarity in working with people from diverse backgrounds. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Experience working with children with disabilities is a huge plus. Job Details Salary: $18‑$20 per hour (commensurate with experience). Approximate Start Date: September 2026 (through June 2027).
