Project Manager – Substation Construction

Location: Florida – Remote/Home Office

Preferred Location: Jupiter / South Florida area
Compensation: Commensurate with experience

If you’re an experienced Project Manager who knows substation construction , understands what it takes to move a project from planning through successful completion, and enjoys being the person responsible for bringing all the pieces together, we want to talk to you.

We are looking for a Project Manager – Substation Construction to lead utility infrastructure projects throughout Florida.

This is not a position for someone whose experience is limited to managing projects from behind a desk. We’re looking for someone who understands the realities of substation construction: coordinating engineering, procurement, contractors, schedules, budgets, field activities, safety requirements, changing priorities, and the inevitable challenges that arise along the way.

You'll have the opportunity to take ownership of complex projects, work with experienced utility and construction professionals, solve real-world challenges, and see the tangible results of the projects you've led.

The position is ideally suited for someone located near Jupiter, Florida , but we're open to qualified candidates anywhere in the state. You can work from your home office in Florida , with travel to project sites and other locations as required.

What You'll Do

As our Project Manager – Substation Construction, you'll be responsible for driving projects forward from initiation through completion while maintaining a strong focus on safety, schedule, budget, quality, and client expectations .

You'll:

• Lead the planning, execution, and successful delivery of substation construction projects .
• Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, resources, milestones, and deliverables.
• Coordinate across engineering, procurement, construction, contractors, vendors, utilities, and other project stakeholders.
• Keep projects moving by identifying risks, resolving issues, managing changes, and anticipating potential roadblocks before they become larger problems.
• Monitor project performance and provide clear, accurate updates to clients, stakeholders, and company leadership.
• Help ensure projects meet applicable utility, regulatory, environmental, quality, and safety requirements .
• Work closely with field teams and project partners to maintain alignment between what's happening in the field and the overall project plan.
• Build strong working relationships with customers, contractors, vendors, and internal teams.
• Evaluate completed projects, capture lessons learned, and help improve how future projects are planned and executed.

What We're Looking For

Most importantly, you must have experience managing substation construction projects.

We're looking for someone who combines technical understanding with strong project leadership and knows how to take responsibility for a project's success.

Ideally, you'll bring:

• 7+ years of project management experience within electric utilities, power delivery, energy infrastructure, EPC, or a closely related environment.
• Demonstrated experience managing substation construction projects .
• Experience managing complex projects involving multiple disciplines, contractors, vendors, and stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of project scheduling, budgeting, forecasting, resource planning, risk management, and change management.
• The ability to communicate effectively with everyone from field personnel and contractors to clients and senior leadership.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities without losing sight of the details.
• A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Business Administration, or a related field or equivalent relevant substation project management experience .
• Ability to travel to project locations as required.

Even Better If You Have

These aren't necessarily deal-breakers, but we'd welcome:

• PMP certification or equivalent project management credentials.
• A master's degree in a relevant discipline.
• Experience working within the Florida electric utility industry .
• Experience with EPC project delivery.
• Knowledge of utility regulatory, environmental, and compliance requirements.
• Experience managing projects with significant safety and environmental considerations.
• Exposure to renewable energy integration, grid modernization, or other emerging utility technologies.
