Life Safety Systems Technician

Conway Public School District

Qualifications:

1. High school or general education diploma
2. State of Arkansas Low Voltage Alarm Technician License, preferred
3. Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds or more
4. Ability to climb all ladder sizes
5. Ability to do routine walking, standing, bending, and carrying heavy items
6. Three years experience in fire alarms, access control, surveillance, intercom, and network systems

Terms of Employment:

The contract length will be 240 days.

Evaluation:

Based on local district policy and Arkansas Department of Education guidelines, and performed by the maintenance supervisor.

Job Goal:

The Life Safety Systems Technician will endeavor to establish a knowledge of maintaining building systems and grounds to provide a safe learning environment for staff and students.

Performance Responsibilities:

1. Follows and maintains knowledge of all District policies and procedures.
2. Repairs and maintains the District facilities and property.
3. Maintains the facility's life safety system, to include:
   1. Troubleshooting and repairing the fire alarm, cameras, digital video recorders, access control, intercom, and network systems;
   2. Performing preventative maintenance of the above-listed systems, to include scheduled checks of the functionality of all systems;
   3. Performing monthly backups to decrease downtime in the event of an equipment failure;
   4. Performing firmware and software updates on equipment, as needed;
   5. Performing installation of new equipment (cameras, access doors, access software, intercoms, speakers, etc.)
4. Uses the District work order system and District forms.
5. Follows all Material Safety Data Sheet directions on all chemical products used by the Conway Public Schools; uses proper labeling and follows all safety procedures.
6. Willing to assist with other assignments given by the maintenance supervisor.
7. Ability to work and communicate with other Conway Public School District personnel and students.
8. Other duties, as assigned.
