Bus Aide

Part-Time Transportation 2026-2027 School Year Classified

Reports to: Director of Transportation

General Summary: The primary job will be to ride the bus and help monitor students.

General Responsibilities:

• Assists the bus driver in maintaining good conduct on the bus.
• Assumes the responsibility of seeing that children remain in their seats.
• Assures that students get on and off the bus in a safe, orderly fashion.
• Provides mild supervision over the children who misbehave, reporting serious offenses to bus drive or the child's teacher.
• Collects and turns over to the school staff those personal items left on the bus by students.
• Any other duties assigned by the Director of Transportation.
• Must be physically able to assist or remove students from the bus in case of emergency.
• Must be able to communicate clearly with teachers, students, administrators and other staff members.
• Must be able to read and understand written orders and instructions.
• Assist with securing special needs students in car seats and protective gear as needed.
• Assist with cleaning inside of bus.
• Prepare seating charts for bus.
• Complete monthly student recognitions.
• Assisting bus driver as needed.

Qualifications:

Must be able to communicate clearly with teachers, students, administrators and other staff members.

Must successfully pass a background check that is satisfactory to the Board of Education.
