Lab Supervisor

Locations Lawrence Canal, 400 Canal St, Lawrence, MA 01840, USA Responsibilities Provide general oversight and support for the lab and technicians Oversee adherence to test methods and laboratory procedures Perform inventory management of all bulk and reagent chemicals Direct the proper preparation, storage, and use of all controlled materials Evaluate supplies and materials needed for testing and direct purchasing department on correct ordering Keep accurate records related to testing activities and prepare summary reports of data in a timely manner Troubleshoot instruments, equipment, and production processes Perform routine analytical and physical process control testing including evaluation of external test reports Lead continuous improvement initiatives in the laboratory department including internal auditing Participate in audits pertaining to NADCAP Customer surveillance audits Identify or recommend new or upgrading of equipment and/or methods to improve productivity and capacity Monitor, measure, and implement corrective action to improve results within the department Participate in new process implementation within the company including customer specification reviews Interact with outside vendors, laboratories, and customers to communicate requirements and resolve issues Motivate, coach, and develop employees within the department Other duties as assigned by management Qualifications Accountability - Ability to accept responsibility and account for actions Accuracy - Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly Active Listening - Ability to actively attend to, convey, and understand the comments and questions of others Applied Learning - Ability to participate in needed learning activities in a way that makes the most of the learning experience Coaching and Development - Ability to provide guidance and feedback to help others strengthen knowledge/skill areas Communication, Oral - Ability to communicate effectively with others using spoken language Communication, Written - Ability to communicate in writing clearly and concisely Conceptual Thinking - Ability to think in terms of abstract ideas Conflict Resolution - Ability to deal with others in an antagonistic situation Problem Solving - Ability to find solutions for work-related problems Self Motivation - Ability to be internally inspired to perform a task Systems Analysis - Ability to determine how a system should work and how changes affect outcomes Time Management - Ability to use time to organize and complete work within deadlines Working Under Pressure - Ability to complete tasks under stress Leadership - Ability to influence others and make decisions Safety Awareness - Ability to identify and correct conditions that affect safety Management Skills - Ability to organize and direct oneself and supervise others Patience - Ability to act calmly under stress Customer Oriented - Ability to take care of customers’ needs following company procedures Organized - Ability to stay organized Initiative - Ability to take actions to solve problems Judgment - Ability to formulate sound decisions Delegating Responsibility - Ability to allocate authority and tasks Detail Oriented - Ability to pay attention to minute details Ethical - Ability to demonstrate conduct conforming to values and standards Goal Oriented - Ability to focus on goals and achieve results Decision Making - Ability to make critical decisions following procedures Work Environment The position involves working with and around hazardous chemicals and solvents. The majority of work is performed in shop conditions and can be in excess of 100 degrees Fahrenheit during the summer season.
