Laboratory Technologist

Duties:

• Performs laboratory tests relevant to the section(s) in which they are assigned including quality control testing following established criteria.
• In addition, performs clerical and computer related activities and phlebotomy with a degree of supervision dependent on experience and training. This individual interacts with patients of all ages.

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in laboratory related area.
• Licensure/Registration/Certification: ASCP preferred
• NY State License Clinical Laboratory Technologist

Work Experience: One year full time or equivalent hospital experience including phlebotomy.

Working Conditions:

Manual: significant manual skills/motor coord & finger dexterity

Occupational: Some occupational risk

Physical Effort: Medium to Heavy effort. May exert up to 35 lbs. force

Physical Environment: Some exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.
