Chief EngineerGulf Coast News in Fort Myers, Florida, has an opening for a Chief Engineer. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to organize, plan, manage, document and execute assignments within a demanding live broadcast environment. This person is responsible for the equipment that provides the content of our broadcast on-air program streams. Candidate will be responsible for monitoring multiple air channels, maintaining regulatory compliance, and assuring quality control of on air product. The individual will be directly responsible for the supervision of the daily operation of the station. Responsibilities include oversight of all studio and field equipment and the supervision and motivation of the technical staff. The position will also be responsible for scheduling and planning of the technical staff. The ideal candidate must excel in motivating and working with a high-energy team and should demonstrate success in budgeting, capital planning and personnel management. This position reports directly to the General Manager and serves on the station's Department Head Team.Job Responsibilities:Oversight of all studio and field equipmentSupervision of the daily operation of the stationSupervise technical and operational staffOversight of IT integrity and infrastructureMaintain transmitter, satellite antenna systems, signal distribution and routing systemsExhibits working knowledge of television maintenance as well as FCC requirements and licensingHas ability to adapt to multiple prioritiesExperience Requirements:5+ years of experience in studio, SNG and ENG broadcast operationsPrevious leadership and management experienceBudgeting and Capital planningMilitary experience will be consideredComputer literacy is mandatoryQualifications Requirements:FCC General Class License a plus.Education:College Degree or equivalent military training and experienceSBE certifications are preferredValues in ActionAt Hearst Television we tell stories every day.
