About the Role We are seeking an experienced, hands‑on Controller to lead accounting, financial reporting, and financial operations as we scale. This role will own the integrity of the company's financials, oversee the accounting function, and build efficient, scalable processes. Own all aspects of the accounting function, including monthly, quarterly, and annual close. Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP. Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls. Oversee revenue recognition, inventory accounting, and other key accounting areas. Partner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, cash planning, and strategic initiatives. Support financing activities, lender reporting, investor reporting, and financial due diligence. Manage relationships with external accountants, tax advisors, auditors, and other financial partners. Build scalable systems and processes to support company growth. Leverage technology and automation to improve efficiency and accuracy. Exercise strong judgment and provide practical accounting guidance on complex business matters. Experience & Skills Active CPA license required. 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities. Experience in consumer businesses with inventory accounting required. Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, revenue recognition, and inventory accounting. Proven ability to make sound judgments and operate effectively in a fast‑paced, high‑growth environment. Public accounting and/or audit background preferred. Apparel, fashion, retail, rental, subscription, or e‑commerce experience preferred. Tech‑savvy with experience using modern accounting systems and automation tools. Exceptional communication skills – can work effectively and collaboratively with peers, and operates without ego. You believe that feedback is a gift; you can receive and grow from feedback, and you can share feedback appropriately with others. Nimble, scrappy and adaptable with a high sense of urgency. Pay range of $160,000 - $200,000, depending on relevant factors such as experience, skill sets and the final job level. The higher end of this range is reserved for candidates with higher experience and qualifications.
