Machinist - ID/OD Grinding

Primary Responsibility:
Operate cylindrical grinding CNC machines for production purposes of miscellaneous rotary products as per customer specifications.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ability to compute numbers, widths and angles of tools, micrometers, scales, and gauges and adjust tools according to customers specifications.
- Selecting, mounting and ability to dress grinding wheels.
- Adjust machine feed & speed, change tooling, or adjust machine controls when automatic programming is faulty or if machines malfunction.
- Use precision measuring instruments and hand tools to verify conformance of finished work pieces to specifications.
- Maintain cleanliness of equipment and work area.
- Wear proper PPE while in work areas of the shop.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to improvise.
- Perform routine maintenance on machinery
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Strong mechanical skills.
- Strong shop math skills.
- Must be able to use precision measuring instruments including micrometers and calipers.
- Familiarity with machine tools and equipment
- Ability to communicate and work well with others.
Education/Experience
- Must have High School diploma or equivalent.
- Must have previous CNC machining experience in cylindrical grinding or other related fields, or trade school diploma.
Physical requirements
- Ability to lift 35 lbs. on occasion.
- Ability to stand for extended periods – 2 hour periods.
- Ability to work overtime as required.
