Co‑op experience at Rexroth‑Charlotte will consist of three rotations through the Technical Engineering Functions Department. Co‑op Program Overview The Co‑operative Education (Co‑op) Program consists of three alternating full‑time work rotations integrated with the student’s university schedule. This structure allows participants to apply classroom knowledge to real‑world engineering challenges while gaining valuable professional experience across multiple semesters. Rotation Schedule: First Rotation: August – December 2026 Second Rotation: May – August 2027 Third Rotation: January – May 2028 Format: Each rotation is a full‑time, on‑site assignment (40 hours per week) where students engage in hands‑on technical projects, process improvements, and cross‑functional collaboration. Between rotations, students return to university to continue their academic coursework. Program Duration: Approximately 18–20 months total, depending on university schedule alignment. Objective: To provide a structured pathway for students to develop technical expertise, problem‑solving skills, and professional growth through direct industry involvement. Rotations Details BPS (Bosch Production Systems) – exposure to a manufacturing environment; reviewing system performance for improvements; process standardization and performance improvement; reading and developing value stream maps and layout designs; standardized work documentation, 5S, SMED, TAKT analysis, ergonomic assessments, and standard time data management. TEF1 (Technical Engineering Functions) – exposure to processes and detailed work instructions; investigating and troubleshooting manufacturing issues; participating in FMEA, control plans development and capability studies; process capability improvements; tooling and machining evaluations; supporting tooling design and shop layouts using Solidworks and AutoCAD; machining and assembling parts. TEF2 (Process Development) – cross‑functional project management for large capital expenditure projects; process release planning and tasks; design, construction, and modification of manufacturing workstations and tooling; design using CAD programs; value stream design and materials planning. TEF3 (Tool & Die/TPM) – CNC machining, tooling selection, design, and setup; TPM program creation, implementation, and sustainment. TEF6 (Core Industrial Engineering) – core Industrial Engineering functions including work efficiency tracking and reporting, ergonomics evaluations and reporting, MTM time standards, and implementation and maintenance within an ERP system. TEF7 (Industry 4.0, digitalization) – I4.0 strategy development, deployment, and maintenance as well as Digital Manufacturing Standards. Qualifications: Candidates must be actively pursuing at least a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related Engineering discipline. Enrollment in a program that provides a solid foundation in engineering principles and problem‑solving skills is required.
