RN Labor and Delivery

Job Summary:


The Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery provides skilled nursing care to postpartum patients, managing assessments, medication administration, and treatment planning within a high-risk obstetric and culturally diverse environment. The nurse collaborates closely with interdisciplinary teams, supports cesarean section circulation, and adapts to staffing needs including floating within their scope. A minimum of one year of nursing experience and an active California RN license are required.

Responsibilities:

• Provide skilled nursing care to postpartum patients.
• Perform patient assessments, medication administration, and treatment planning.
• Circulate during cesarean sections as part of the nursing team.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Adapt to staffing needs by floating within the scope of practice as required.
• Manage up to 20 patient visits per day and care for an average daily census of 15-20 patients.
• Maintain nursing care standards in a high-risk obstetric setting with a culturally diverse patient population.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license in California (pending licenses not accepted).
• Minimum of 1 year nursing experience, preferably in Labor and Delivery or related field.
• Ability to circulate during cesarean sections.
• Strong clinical assessment, medication administration, and treatment planning skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-risk obstetric environment.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience working with high-risk obstetric patients and culturally diverse populations.
• Previous postpartum nursing experience.

Special Considerations:

• Weekend work required to meet staffing needs.
• Floating to other units within scope to support facility needs.
• No Return to Office (RTO) restrictions beyond 7 days.
• Work includes circulating in cesarean section surgeries.

Scheduling:

• Full-time schedule with weekend shifts as required.
• Shift assignments based on facility staffing needs and patient census.
