In This Role, You Will Assemble and disassemble large shelters, complex subassemblies, chassis and mechanical parts. Review modification and rework instructions or discrepancy reports, engineering change orders and preliminary rework notices. Modify or rework mechanical assemblies by removing, repairing and replacing parts, cables or harnesses. Operate various power tools used in the assembly of all types of hardware as identified on the supplied parts lists. Follow blueprints, guidelines, and/or diagrams to fabricate and assemble various electromechanical and electronic assemblies. Perform work with standard concepts, practices, and procedures. Work onboard U.S. Naval Ships and military installations in environments that may be uncomfortable due to drafts, noise, temperature variation, and equipment. Work with blueprints, assembly drawings and sketches to complete a wide variety of assembly and subassembly tasks. To be successful in this role, you will have Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance. U.S. Citizenship. Ability to gain access to shipyards (NAVSTA & DBIDS), undergo a background investigation and pass a drug screening. An OSHA 10 certification or the ability to obtain one. A high‑school diploma or GED. At least 2 years of experience (shipboard experience installing electronic equipment, ducts, cableways, cables, lagging highly preferred). Ability to use power tools and assemble both large‑scale and intricate mechanical assemblies. Ability to work with blueprints, assembly drawings and sketches. Must be respirator qualified and wear proper PPE throughout the shift. Willingness to work second shift and be available for more than 40‑hour work weeks. Work in high‑heat spaces, climb shipyard dry‑dock stairs/ladders, work in kneeling position for cable layouts under false decking, lift 50 pounds and perform frequent carrying, pushing or pulling up to 40 pounds in standing, crouching or walking positions. Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.
