Project Manager

Job Summary The Project Manager reports to the Head of Project Management and will lead the execution of utility‑scale wind, solar, and battery storage projects. The role covers safety leadership, EPC performance management, schedule and cost control, risk mitigation, contract administration, change management, claims avoidance, and executive‑level reporting. The position is based in Downtown Houston with a hybrid work model of 3days in office and 2days remote. Responsibilities Provide visible safety leadership across project execution from development to construction, ensuring protection of people, communities, assets, and the environment. Ensure project teams and EPC partners understand and execute safety responsibilities, including hazard identification, incident prevention, corrective action tracking, and escalation of significant HSE risks. Lead day‑to‑day execution of cross‑functional teams, driving accountability for safety, quality, schedule, cost, risk, and commercial commitments. Implement and continuously improve project management, controls, risk and reporting tools to support timely decisions and governance. Own creation, maintenance, tracking, forecasting, and reporting of project schedules and budgets, including baseline management, critical path analysis, and early identification of risks to COD and milestones. Coordinate with finance and controls to manage monthly budget reforecasts, cost trends, and contingency tracking. Prepare and maintain executive‑level project reporting on status, risks, decisions, commercial exposure, mitigation plans, and confidence in COD and budget. Lead commercial and contractual review of change orders and claims, coordinating with legal, procurement, and controls. Manage EPC contractor performance against contractual obligations, including milestones, deliverables, notices, reporting, recovery plans, and compliance. Lead contract administration for assigned projects, preserving contractual rights and managing contractor notices and claims. Maintain an integrated project risk register covering safety, permitting, interconnection, engineering, procurement, construction, schedule, commercial, and financial risks. Lead disciplined project governance, maintaining decision logs, action registers, change logs, correspondence, approval records, lessons learned, and handover documentation. Lead project due diligence for financing, tracking and closing investor and engineering items. Capture, validate, and present lessons learned for continuous improvement. Support EPC procurement activities, including RFP development, bid evaluation, due diligence, contract negotiation, and performance management. Perform project troubleshooting, gap analysis, and mitigation planning throughout the project lifecycle. Engage with electric utility counterparts, interconnection stakeholders, consultants, and internal teams to ensure successful energization and COD readiness. Support development and validation of CAPEX estimates, contingency assumptions, commercial inputs, and execution risks. Lead structured turnover of completed projects to Asset Management, delivering close‑out documentation and transition of knowledge. Qualifications Must be legally authorized to work in the US; no sponsorship offered. Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline. 7+ years of progressively responsible project management experience in energy, infrastructure, construction, or related industries. Demonstrated ownership of cost, schedule, risk, and contractor performance in utility‑scale renewable EPC projects. Experience managing full‑life‑cycle EPC projects including late‑stage development, construction, commissioning, energization, COD, and turnover. Knowledge of technical and commercial project management activities: scope definition, contractor evaluation, project economics, schedules, CAPEX estimates, EPC contracts, constructability reviews, risk management, and controls. Experience managing EPC contracts, change orders, claims avoidance, and contractor performance. Strong commercial acumen able to link technical issues to cost, schedule, risk, and economics. Experience with project controls: baseline schedules, critical path, cost forecasting, contingency tracking, and executive reporting. Proven ability to lead cross‑functional teams and influence stakeholders across Development, Engineering, Procurement, Legal, Finance, HSE, Asset Management, utilities, contractors, investors, and consultants. Strong communication, stakeholder management, negotiation support, and technology‑enabled project execution skills. Proficient with Microsoft products and project management platforms. Preferred Qualifications PMP certification. Electrical or Civil/Structural engineering degrees. Understanding of utility interconnection requirements (FERC, ISO tariffs, etc.). Experience with EPC negotiations, dispute avoidance, commercial correspondence, and changes. Experience supporting financing, lender or investor diligence, independent engineering reviews, and financial close. Familiarity with AACE cost estimate classes, schedule maturity expectations, and project controls best practices. Experience with project management and controls platforms such as MS Project, PrimaveraP6, PowerBI, Procore, Oracle, SAP, or equivalents.
