Haven Home Care is looking for home health aides in Summit County, Ohio. We offer competitive pay and benefits, along with opportunities for growth and development.
$18/hour for STNA license (active or expired) $16-18/hour based on interview for HHA certificate or experience $16/hour for free training pathway $19-20/hour when you refer and care for a private pay client 10% extra on holidays. Paid every 2 weeks. Direct deposit. Drive time between clients is paid. Drive time to your first client or from your last client is not.
Raises are built in. Three raises in your first 2 years: 90-day review: +$0.50/hour 1-year review: +$0.50/hour more 2-year review: +$1.00/hour more That adds up to $2.00/hour more if you hit all three. Miss one? It carries over to your next review. You can still earn it. What $16/hour could become: → 90 days: $16.50 → 1 year: $17.00 → 2 years: $18.00 What $18/hour could become: → 90 days: $18.50 → 1 year: $19.00 → 2 years: $20.00 Start higher because of experience? Your increases stack on top.
How you earn raises: At your 90-day, 1-year, and 2-year reviews, you fill out an evaluation form. You grade yourself on 11 items first. Then you sign it. Then we grade you on the same items. Score all 1s (highest) on every item and the raise is yours. Here's what we look at:
Showing up: Be on time Clock in and out (app or phone) Follow call-off steps if you can't make a shift
Client care: Follow policies Accept clients that match the limits YOU gave us Report incidents within 24 hours Get good feedback from clients Don't be the reason a client leaves Haven. Most common reasons: frequent call-offs, no-call/no-shows. If a client leaves us because of you, it impacts your raise.
Staying in touch: Answer office calls and texts quickly Send updated documents when we ask (insurance, license, training) Complete feedback forms when sent Do these things? The raise is automatic. We don't hold it back from good caregivers.
Earn extra: $100 after 30 days with perfect attendance — every shift on time, zero call-offs. $300 when you refer a caregiver who stays — $100 when they hit 60 hours, $200 more at 200 hours. $75-$1,500 when you refer a private pay client, based on their hours. Refer anyone — friends, family, neighbors — to work here or as a private pay client. The bonuses above apply.
How to qualify: Pick the path that fits you. All four lead to the same job.
Path 1: STNA License (fastest start)
Pay: $18/hour Need: STNA license in Ohio — active or expired. How long: 1-3 days if you move fast. Your STNA means you already passed the state test. You skip our written and skills test entirely. Path 2: HHA Certificate
Pay: $16-18/hour based on interview Need: HHA certificate, 30+ hours, signed by RN (unless completed online). How long: 5-8 days to working. Here's how it works: 1. Apply and send your certificate 2. Phone talk (20 minutes) 3. Short online questionnaire 4. Take the HHA test at our Cuyahoga Falls office (scheduled with you) 5. Sign your paperwork online 6. Online orientation + document verification (30-40 minutes) 7. Fingerprinting
Path 3: Experience Under a Licensed Nurse (no certificate needed)
Pay: $16-18/hour based on interview Need: 1+ year at one company where your supervisor was an RN or LPN. How long: 5-8 days after we verify your experience. Where this kind of experience comes from: Nursing homes Hospitals Skilled home health agencies (Medicare-certified) Assisted living with licensed nurses on staff This does not count: Non-medical home care agencies (supervisor was a care coordinator or office manager) Private caregiving for family or friends Any job where your supervisor was not a licensed nurse Ohio requires Home Health Aides to have training OR supervised experience under a licensed nurse. We don't make this rule — the state does.
Important — how we verify your experience: Ohio law requires us to verify your experience by calling your former employer directly. They confirm your dates, that you worked there 1+ year, and that your supervisor was an RN or LPN. This pathway will not work if: Your former employer uses The Work Number or another third-party verification service (those services only confirm basic dates — they don't confirm RN/LPN supervision, which is what Ohio requires) The company has closed and no longer has records of your employment They can't or won't verify the details we need If your old employer uses The Work Number, we cannot use this pathway for you. You may need Path 2 (HHA certificate) or Path 4 (free training) instead. Not sure how your old employer verifies employment? Take the HHA test at our Cuyahoga Falls office (scheduled with you) 6. Sign your paperwork online 7. Online orientation + document verification (30-40 minutes) 8. Path 4: No Experience (we train you free)
Pay: $16/hour Need: Just a willingness to help people. We teach everything else. How long: 1-2 weeks to working. Here's how it works: 1. Apply 2. Phone talk (20 minutes) 3. Short online questionnaire 4. Complete free 32-hour online HHA training (at home, 6 days to finish, NOT paid) 5. Take the HHA test at our Cuyahoga Falls office (scheduled with you) 6. Sign your paperwork online 7. Online orientation + document verification (30-40 minutes) 8. Fingerprinting Don't finish training in 6 days? We close your application. If something comes up, text us right away.
Can't verify your experience? Certificate doesn't qualify? Maybe the company you worked for closed. Maybe there's no one left to call, or they only use a service like The Work Number. That's okay. You're not turned away. You can still join by taking our free online training to qualify. And because you already have a care background, your pay stays based on your interview ($16-18/hour), not the brand-new rate. Only people with no experience at all start at $16.
The HHA test: Ohio requires all Home Health Aides to pass a competency test — not our rule, the state's. Two parts: written questions and skills you demonstrate. You need 80% on both. Both parts happen in person at our Cuyahoga Falls office. We schedule a time that works for you. Already passed an HHA test at another job? Show us your results. 80% or higher means you skip it.
