Job Summary
The Paint Laboratory Technician supports paint testing, color development, and brand color validation activities. This role performs routine laboratory testing, maintains test equipment, documents results, and supports project tracking and supplier follow-up.
Title: Paint Laboratory Technician
Location: New Holland, PA
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare paint panels and samples for testing and evaluation.
- Operate laboratory equipment such as color spectrophotometers, WOM equipment, corrosion chambers, humidity cabinets, ovens, and water immersion tanks under supervision.
- Perform routine testing for color, gloss, adhesion, corrosion, humidity, and other paint performance characteristics.
- Record, organize, and enter test results into laboratory systems and project files.
- Monitor ongoing tests and document abnormalities or deviations.
- Track color standard requests and maintain accurate project status.
- Provide regular status updates to cross-functional teams.
- Follow up on missing or incomplete test request information.
- Communicate with suppliers regarding sample and material timelines.
- Update project tracking forms with status and deadlines.
- Maintain organized records of test data, communications, and supplier responses.
- Support standardized technical communications related to paint development activities.
- Assist with laboratory workload scheduling and test queue organization.
Required Skills
- Experience working in a laboratory, paint/coatings, materials testing, or a similar technical environment.
- Familiarity with laboratory testing procedures and documentation.
- Ability to operate and learn laboratory test equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and accurate data recording skills.
- Good organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to coordinate with internal teams and external suppliers.
