The role is for a Human Resources Staffing Specialist I assisting an American scientific agency within the U.S. Department of Commerce focused on marine and atmospheric research. Job Description As an HRSM Human Resources Staffing Specialist I, you will support program and human resources functions for the agency, performing personnel action reports (PAR), processing personnel actions, talent acquisition support, onboarding, training, and related activities. You will assist with acquisition support, financial data evaluation, reconciliations, and provide multi‑functional enterprise services in a fast‑paced customer service environment. Responsibilities Perform personnel action coding and processing for Departmental employees. Support project teams and program managers with daily execution of assigned work functions. Collect, evaluate, and analyze financial data for recurring departmental processes and provide clear summary findings. Conduct periodic reconciliation reviews of external interfaces to identify and correct data gaps and discrepancies. Work with a variety of IT systems to deliver enterprise services support. Provide acquisition support across bureaus, including IT, finance, HR, program management, economic analysis, and administrative functions. Utilize Microsoft Office tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) with advanced proficiency. Deliver strong presentation and communication skills, both oral and written, to a wide range of stakeholders. Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent with 4 years' on‑the‑job experience in personnel action coding and processing. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and related tools. Familiarity with federal government business operations and work processes. Strong analytical, problem‑solving, presentation, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, meeting milestones and delivery schedules. U.S. citizenship required. Travel: Travel will be coordinated with the technical point of contact and approved in writing by the Contracting Officer in accordance with Federal Travel Regulations.
