It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Description of Work This position must supervise offenders in the manufacturing of bedding materials and the reupholstery of furniture. The employee must ensure completion and accuracy of orders to meet specified shipping deadlines. This includes supervising offenders in the accurate and timely completion of assigned orders. This position requires assisting the Plant Manager in the daily operation of the plant. The employee is responsible for training offenders in the safe and proper operation of all required equipment and manufacturing practices utilized in the production of reupholstered furniture and the manufacturing of bedding material. The employee must organize and direct work assignments of offenders, set up and operate equipment and processing of raw materials to finished goods. This is a certified position for which the employee must have completed or must be able to complete Correctional Officer Basic Training (COBT) by the NC Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission within 12 months of hire. Salary Range $39,244 - $68,679 Experience Preferences Experience working in a manufacturing and/or production environment. Background in logistics, supply chain, or project management, ensuring timely ordering, manufacturing, and delivery of products. Ability to use tools used for measurement and cutting, ensuring quality control within specifications. Experience teaching and supervising unskilled labor. Necessary Special Requirements Agriculture - NC Pesticide License and NC Wastewater License Cannery – Low Acid and Acidified Food Production certification must be obtained within one year of hire. Laundry - Certified Professional Laundry Manager or Certified Laundry and Linen Manager certification. Braille - Certified Braille Transcriber certificate must be obtained within 18 months of hire.
