Executive Director – Lawyers for the Creative Arts – Chicago, IL (Hybrid) About Lawyers for the Creative Arts LCA was founded in 1972 to provide pro‑bono legal representation for the arts. Over the last five decades it has grown in staff, financial resources, and service offerings. LCA partners with other legal and arts service organizations and with government agencies to support artists, arts organizations, and nonprofits. Recently LCA acquired the programming of the Arts & Business Council of Chicago, which will provide further resources for the new Executive Director. Opportunity Following the departure of a long‑serving Executive Director, the role will lead a mission‑driven staff and board. Key responsibilities include: Strengthen and expand access to pro‑bono legal services, education, and professional support for artists and arts organizations; Build and maintain relationships with pro‑bono attorneys, law firms, corporate legal partners, and bar associations; Oversee a mix of staff attorneys, volunteer counsel, and community partnerships to provide services such as contract review, intellectual property guidance, trademark support, business formation, employment matters, dispute resolution, and educational workshops; Serve as the organization’s ambassador, raising awareness of the legal challenges faced by the arts community; Manage organizational operations, fundraising, key partnerships, and financial performance; Guide the organization’s next chapter, balancing its heritage with continued relevance and visibility in the evolving arts and nonprofit landscape. Qualifications J.D. is preferred but not required; highly qualified individuals with compelling backgrounds may be considered; Experience in legal services management is preferred but not required; Strong leadership, judgment, and crisis response skills; Passion for the arts and ability to translate professional strengths into innovative solutions; Experience working with non‑profits and community partners is an asset. Compensation and Benefits Salary range: $150,000 – $175,000. Full‑time hybrid position located in Chicago. Comprehensive benefits package.
