Duties

Some of the duties associated with this position include, but are not limited to the following:

• Schedule and assign tasks to ensure consistent coverage of all duties.
• Monitor and evaluate the amount, accuracy and timeliness of work production.
• Ensure condition and maintenance of all equipment and supplies.
• Provide adequate orientation and training in the duties of the department, safety requirements, VA mandates and other applicable rules and regulations.
• Manage employee time and attendance.
• Oversee problem resolution presented by subordinates, and when necessary, initiate disciplinary action.
• Assess the impact of any issues or problems within the department and advise management.
• Develop and maintain functional statements and performance standards.
• Conduct ongoing employee evaluation, including performance appraisals.
• Assist in recruitment, interview and selection of candidates.
• Perform supervisory and/or managerial duties and responsibilities in the absence of another Supervisor, Assistant Chief or Chief of SPS.
