Description

American Traveler is hiring an Echo Technologist/Cardiac Sonographer to perform comprehensive echocardiographic studies including stress and dobutamine echo in a hospital EKG Lab setting.

Details

• Work in the EKG Lab performing 2D, color Doppler, and Doppler echocardiograms
• Perform stress and dobutamine echocardiograms requiring advanced interpretation and analysis skills
• Perform several portable studies daily, requiring mobilization of ultrasound equipment
• 13-week assignment with a schedule of 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
• Uses Epic for charting

Requirements

• Current BLS certification (AHA preferred; specific hospital sites may require AHA only)
• License required if applicable
• Proficient in non-imaging continuous Doppler techniques for diagnosing abnormal pathologies
• Skilled in diagnosing wall motion abnormalities, left ventricular regional wall abnormalities, pericardial and pleural effusion, stenotic and regurgitant lesions, and congenital abnormalities
• Ability to review patient charts and obtain pertinent clinical history prior to testing
• Ability to interpret test results and communicate preliminary findings to referring physicians or house officers

Additional Information

• Explain procedures to patients and position them appropriately for cardiac ultrasound exams
• Record, calculate, and plot control values on technical instruments to ensure accuracy and reliability of results
• Prepare test reports using ancillary devices such as video recorders and transducers
• Maintain testing rooms in a clean, orderly condition, including restocking supplies and disposing of soiled linen
• Clean equipment including patient cables, transducers, and ultrasound machines after use
• Flu vaccination required with no religious or medical exemptions accepted
• Local candidates accepted if residing within 60 miles of the Boston area, with an adjusted pay rate
