Network Support Specialist- East Greenwich School Department

Network Support Specialist East Greenwich Public Schools is seeking applications for a Network Support Specialist. The Network Support Specialist analyzes, troubleshoots, and evaluates computer network problems. The position responsibilities include maintaining the school district’s networks and keeping them safe and secure through hardware configuration, support, and end-user training. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Maintain and support LAN, WAN, wireless (WiFi), and IP phone networks. Configure LAN and WAN switches/routers and peripheral equipment. Set up new users, provide access permissions, and configure security settings. Administer the district's mobile device management solution. Assist with administration of district security systems, including door access, network‑attached cameras, visitor and emergency management software. Evaluate and document LAN and WAN data to ensure peak performance and recommend improvements. Set up desktop computer equipment and install system software including operating systems and user software packages. Plan and test backup and disaster recovery systems and maintain daily backups. Analyze network security breaches to determine cause, resolve issues, and secure network against future infiltration. Review and respond to Help Desk tickets. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Technology or Superintendent of Schools. Desired Minimum Qualifications Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred. 3 to 5 years of network and computer server experience. IT Help Desk experience and hardware and software testing experience. Experience with network software such as HP, Aruba, VMWare. Experience with network monitoring, security, and OS software. Appropriate technology certifications. Tools & Equipment The individual should be familiar with standard office equipment, including personal computers and spreadsheet and word processing software. Physical Demands Frequent sitting, talking, and hearing; use of hands to operate tools; occasionally standing/walking; occasionally reaching; occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs. Vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
