DESKTOP SUPPORT SPECIALIST

Position Overview DESKTOP SUPPORT SPECIALIST - Systems Engineering Department, Eglin AFB, FL. Full time position open for experienced non-manager personnel with a Secret security clearance. Responsibilities Provide daily help-desk support to end users, resolve software and hardware issues, and manage basic network troubleshooting. Perform administration of computers and software, including daily monitoring of security appliances, patch testing, and anti-virus management. Maintain, repair, and troubleshoot computer hardware and software packages. Create new user accounts, train users on proper use of USAF computer systems, and document all support actions to ensure timely resolution. Work within teams and communicate effectively with users. General Duties Manually update operating systems and software on offline systems. Maintain system documentation and deploy Air Force SDC images to new machines. Migrate user documents/settings to replacement machines. Install and configure newly acquired software. Field end-user technical support complaints. Respond to telephone calls, email, and personal requests for technical support. Document, track, and monitor problems to ensure timely resolution. Create new user accounts and train users on proper use of USAF computer systems. Maintain, repair, and troubleshoot computer hardware and software packages. Provide customer service and end-user training. Apply knowledge of common concepts, practices, and procedures within the field. Requirements CompTIA Security+ certification required within 60 days. Minimum two years of help-desk support experience; customer service experience a plus. Proficiency with Windows 10/11 and Microsoft 365. Ability to perform workstation rebuilds, troubleshoot, and research new technologies. Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Strong written and verbal communication. DoD information-assurance experience (e.g., IAVA, STIG) is a plus. Additional requirements: Secret security clearance eligibility and maintenance. Flexible work schedule required. Work Environment & Physical Demands Work performed in an environmentally controlled office in Eglin AFB, FL. Requires substantial wrist, hand, and finger motion; proximity visual acuity for computer use; sitting for long periods; lifting up to 30 lbs; ability to work in confined spaces and outdoors in various elements.
