Mail Room Assistant/Clerk

Schedule: 1st Shift, 40 hours per week
Pay Rate: $17.00 per hour

Position Summary

Pitney Bowes is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Mail Room Assistant/Clerk to support daily mail processing and production operations. This position will prepare outgoing metered mail, inspect mail pieces for accuracy and quality, identify barcode issues, and assist with resolving equipment jams. The ideal candidate is reliable, safety-conscious, comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment, and able to follow operational instructions provided in English.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Review outgoing mail to verify the correct date, postage, and barcode quality before production.
• Prepare and process metered mail according to established procedures.
• Inspect mail pieces for damaged, missing, or unreadable barcodes.
• Identify and communicate barcode errors or other mail-quality issues to the appropriate team member or supervisor.
• Troubleshoot and safely remove mail-piece jams from processing equipment.
• Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area.
• Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and operational instructions.
• Work collaboratively with team members to meet production goals and deadlines.
• Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Ability to understand and follow safety and operational instructions communicated in English.
• Dependable and reliable attendance.
• Ability to work effectively in a production or warehouse environment.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify errors.
• Ability to work overtime, including weekends, holidays, or alternate shifts, with limited or no advance notice.
• No prior experience required; relevant mail processing, warehouse, manufacturing, or production experience is a plus.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to stand, walk, stoop, and bend for approximately 80% of the workday.
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks in a fast-paced production environment.
• Ability to safely operate around mail-processing machinery and equipment.
