Bookkeeper

Title: Bookkeeper Location: Schaumburg, Illinois Assignment Type: 3-month contract with the possibility of extensions Compensation: $29.00 - $32.00 / Hourly depending on relevant experience Benefits: This position is eligible for medical, dental, vision, and 401(k). Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to support the day-to-day financial operations of a growing organization. This role will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing accounts payable and receivable transactions, performing bank reconciliations, and assisting with month-end close activities. The ideal candidate will possess strong attention to detail and a solid understanding of accounting principles. Key Responsibilities Maintain and update financial records, including general ledger entries. Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions accurately and timely. Perform bank, credit card, and account reconciliations. Record and reconcile daily cash receipts and deposits. Prepare and process invoices, payments, and expense reports. Assist with month-end and year-end close activities. Monitor outstanding balances and follow up on past-due accounts as needed. Maintain accurate documentation and filing of financial records. Generate financial reports and assist with budget tracking and analysis. Support payroll processing and ensure accurate employee payment records. Assist with process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and internal controls. Qualifications Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred. 3+ years of bookkeeping, accounting, or general ledger experience. Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles, reconciliations, and financial reporting. Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processing. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data analysis. Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
