Senior Manager, Practice Operations

Role Description

The Senior Manager, Practice Operations will oversee the Business Integration Services (BIS) practice, focusing on operational excellence and team development.

Key Responsibilities

• Practice Operations & Delivery Coordination:
  • Own the weekly resource coordination sync and alignment across multiple projects.
  • Maintain a real-time view of utilization across all active engagements.
  • Build and maintain the practice's operational cadences.
  • Escalate delivery risks that require leadership action.
  • Ensure project teams have the necessary tools, templates, methodologies, and standards.
• Capability Building:
  • Partner with project teams to define and maintain the practice's methodology.
  • Build a learning and development calendar for the team.
  • Create and maintain a competency framework for performance evaluation.
  • Drive/support the development of BIS delivery playbooks, templates, and standards.
  • Identify patterns across engagements to address capability gaps.
• People Leadership & Team Development:
  • Lead structured onboarding for incoming new hires.
  • Serve as a direct people manager for the reporting team.
  • Hold a quarterly coaching roundtable with cross-pillar coaches.
  • Retain and support a team of experienced senior practitioners.
• Practice Strategy & Governance:
  • Contribute to capacity planning with leadership.
  • Partner with leadership on the design of the coaching model.
  • Maintain the operating model documentation.
• Continuous Improvement & Quality Assurance:
  • Promote continuous improvement through lessons learned and feedback loops.
  • Ensure project deliverables meet established quality standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Management, or a related field or equivalent experience.
• Advanced degree (MBA or Master’s) is preferred.

Requirements

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in technology consulting, professional services, or a related discipline.
• Proven track record as a people manager.
• Experience working with Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
• Strong working knowledge of the four pillars as a discipline.
• Experience managing resource deployment and capacity planning.
• Demonstrated ability to build trust with experienced peers and direct reports.
• Comfort operating in a high-growth, structurally evolving environment.
• Strong understanding of utility operations, asset management, and regulatory compliance.
• Demonstrated experience in team building and leadership.
• Excellent project management skills.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to travel domestically and/or internationally if required.
• Prior experience in practice operations, delivery management, or capability development role.
• Familiarity with cross-functional dynamics between PMO, BA, solution architecture, and engineering.
• Experience with coaching models and structured mentoring programs.
• Exposure to Big 4 or top-tier consulting operating models.
• Experience hiring and onboarding senior practitioners in a compressed timeline.
• Certifications: PMP/PMI-ACP, Prosci/Change Management, ITIL, SAFe/Agile or relevant certifications.
