Omega Contractors is a commercial and industrial electrical contractor serving Austin and Central Texas. Our work includes commercial and industrial electrical construction, equipment installations, facility upgrades, shutdowns, power distribution, controls, and ongoing facility maintenance.
We are seeking an experienced Commercial/Industrial Electrical Foreman who can lead field crews, coordinate daily work, maintain productivity, and ensure installations meet project requirements, electrical codes, and Omega’s quality standards.
Position Summary
The Commercial/Industrial Electrical Foreman is responsible for the daily supervision and execution of electrical work in active commercial and industrial environments. This is a working foreman position that requires hands-on electrical work in addition to crew leadership, planning, coordination, and documentation.
The successful candidate must be able to understand project scope, plan work activities, communicate expectations to the crew, identify potential issues, and complete assigned work safely, efficiently, and according to schedule.
Primary Responsibilities
· Lead electricians, apprentices, and tradesmen in the completion of assigned commercial and industrial electrical work.
· Perform hands-on electrical installations as required.
· Review electrical drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project requirements.
· Plan daily and weekly work activities based on project priorities and available manpower.
· Assign work to crew members based on experience and demonstrated competency.
· Monitor crew productivity, workmanship, attendance, and job-site performance.
· Coordinate material, tools, equipment, lifts, and access requirements.
· Identify material shortages and submit requests before they affect production.
· Conduct daily pre-task planning and communicate job hazards to the crew.
· Verify that installations meet the National Electrical Code, project specifications, approved drawings, and customer requirements.
· Inspect completed work and correct deficiencies before requesting formal inspections.
· Maintain accurate daily reports, manpower records, production updates, and timekeeping information.
· Track work completed, work remaining, and potential schedule impacts.
· Maintain redline drawings and communicate field changes to project management.
· Coordinate with project managers, supervisors, quality personnel, safety personnel, customers, and other trades.
· Assist with shutdown planning, equipment outages, energization activities, testing, and project turnover.
· Maintain clean, organized, and professional work areas.
· Protect company tools, equipment, vehicles, and materials.
· Train and develop journeymen, apprentices, and tradesmen.
· Enforce company policies, project procedures, and job-site requirements.
· Immediately report safety concerns, quality issues, delays, damaged materials, and scope conflicts.
Minimum Qualifications
· Valid Texas Journeyman Electrician License.
· Minimum of five years of commercial or industrial electrical experience.
· Previous experience leading electrical crews.
· Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code.
· Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, panel schedules, specifications, and installation details.
· Ability to plan work, assign manpower, and manage daily production.
· Experience with conduit installation, conduit bending, cable tray, branch circuits, feeders, electrical equipment, and terminations.
· Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems and installation issues.
· Ability to communicate clearly with field employees, management, customers, and other trades.
· Ability to complete accurate daily reports and project documentation.
· Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
· Must provide and maintain the hand tools required for the position.
· Must be dependable and consistently report to work as scheduled.
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience in commercial buildings and industrial manufacturing facilities.
· Experience working in active commercial, production, or manufacturing environments.
· Experience with motor controls, transformers, switchgear, panels, disconnects, lighting systems, and commercial or industrial equipment.
· Experience with shutdowns, equipment outages, tenant improvements, renovations, and scheduled weekend work.
· Experience with quality inspections, testing, commissioning, and project turnover.
· OSHA 30 certification.
· Aerial lift and forklift training.
· First Aid and CPR certification.
· Experience using digital drawings, construction management applications, or electronic daily reporting systems.
Schedule and Work Expectations
Omega Contractors typically works 10-hour shifts, with employees averaging 50–60 hours per week. Work schedules may include:
· Weekday overtime.
· Friday and Saturday work.
· Scheduled shutdowns.
· Early morning start times.
· Occasional night work.
· Work in active commercial, industrial, and manufacturing facilities.
· Travel to project locations throughout Austin and Central Texas.
Schedules may change based on customer requirements, project deadlines, production restrictions, and shutdown availability.
Physical Requirements
The employee must be able to:
· Stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work for extended periods.
· Regularly lift and carry electrical materials, tools, and equipment.
· Work from ladders, scaffolds, and aerial lifts.
· Work indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures and conditions.
· Work around operating equipment and active construction activities.
· Wear required personal protective equipment.
· Safely perform the physical duties associated with commercial and industrial electrical construction.
Compensation
The hourly pay range for this position is $38.00–$42.00 per hour.
Starting pay will be based on:
· Commercial and industrial electrical experience.
· Foreman and crew leadership experience.
· Technical knowledge and installation ability.
· Ability to read and execute electrical drawings.
· Planning and production management skills.
· License status and relevant certifications.
· Demonstrated ability to meet safety, quality, and schedule expectations.
Overtime is paid in accordance with applicable wage and hour requirements.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a working commercial/industrial electrical foreman who leads by example, communicates expectations clearly, takes ownership of assigned work, and holds the crew accountable for productivity and workmanship.
This position is intended for someone who can manage field activities while remaining actively involved in the installation. The successful candidate will be organized, dependable, professional, and capable of identifying problems before they affect safety, quality, cost, or schedule.
