Project Specialist

Job Description The Project Specialist supports special projects and leadership development initiatives across the Department of Planning and Development. The role coordinates and tracks departmental projects, manages working groups and strategic planning efforts, implements process improvement initiatives, and facilitates leadership and team development sessions. The Project Specialist balances multiple tasks, maintains strong relationships across the department, and fosters a culture of continuous improvement. Responsibilities Support project management and tracking across the department in coordination with leadership in each division. Identify sources of risk for departmental projects and collaborate with stakeholders to mitigate risks and ensure successful delivery. Provide support and training to staff on the department’s project management platform. Plan, create materials for, and facilitate various departmental meetings, leadership and employee development programs, and organizational events. Develop and maintain methods for tracking progress of strategic initiatives and departmental goals. Assist with the review and coordination of projects with the Communications Department. Contribute to continuous improvement efforts, including use of Microsoft applications to document and streamline operations. Speak at retreats, conferences, and meetings. Qualifications Associate’s degree in business administration, public administration, or a closely related field; AND Five years of administrative support or related office experience; OR Equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform essential duties. Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, or a related field.
