Nuclear Medicine Tech II - On Call

Job Summary Under the direction of the Diagnostic Imaging Director, prepares, measures, and administers radiopharmaceuticals in diagnostic and therapeutic studies. Utilizes efficient and safe processes. Performs related technological functions to ensure optimal diagnostic quality of patient care. May direct and check the work of other Nuclear Medicine Technologists. Essential Responsibilities As prescribed by the Physician, performs diagnostic studies on patients, using scanners or scintillation cameras to detect radiation emitted and produce images of organs on photographic film. Under the general supervision of the Physician, prepares stock solutions of radiopharmaceutical materials, calculates doses, and administers doses. Administers therapeutic doses of radiopharmaceuticals under direct supervision of the Physician. Measures radioactivity using Geiger counters, scintillation detectors, and calibrates equipment. Follows radiation safety techniques and proper disposal of radioactive materials. May direct and check the work of other Nuclear Medicine Technologists. Performs other related duties as necessary. Grade 890 Basic Qualifications Experience Minimum of three years continuous recent experience in nuclear medicine. Demonstrated ability to perform all procedures and processes as determined by the employer. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; write simple correspondence; and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other incumbents of the organization. Must be willing to work in a Labor Management Partnership environment. Also refer to Position Specifications outlined in the appropriate collective bargaining agreement. Education High School Diploma/GED. License, Certification, Registration American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate – Nuclear Medicine Technologist from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists OR Medical Laboratory Technician Certificate from the American Society for Clinical Pathologists OR Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certificate from the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board.
