CHARACTER AND WORK ETHIC (Piety) Ministry-minded before career-minded - seeking this call from love to God and a sincere desire to promote His glory in the Gospel of His Son (Prov. 11:30, 27:18) Diligent - dependable, taking ownership, communicating proactively with clarity, finishing what he starts (Prov. 13:4, 15:23, 22:29) Humble - teachable, welcoming correction as a gift (Prov. 9:8-9, 11:2, 12:1) Truthful - honest, speaking the truth, especially when costly (Prov. 12:22, 20:25, 24:26, 28:23) Faithful - stewarding the church's resources with care and integrity, loving family and friends well, the same person at home and work (Prov. 5:18-19, 11:1, 17:6, 20:5) TEACHING AND WORSHIP LEADERSHIP (Prophetic Office) Preach and teach as assigned to all age ranges in diverse formats (corporate public worship, Sunday School classes, small groups, one‑on‑one) Lead Next Generation Ministry (ages birth through young adult) Evangelize the curious, the skeptical; equip others to be evangelists in their context ORGANIZATIONAL LEADERSHIP (Kingly Office) Recruit, train, organize, thank, and care for volunteers serving a wide range of roles Collaborate with staff team across a broad spectrum of event planning and execution Learn and support major aspects of every ministry system of the church PASTORAL CARE (Priestly Office) Counsel church attenders/members as appropriate Visit the sick, anoint them with oil, and pray for them (along with other elders) Engage in community life at Valley Springs Requirements Three to five years of ministry experience, including Next Generation Ministry (ages birth through young adult) Ordained or ordainable as a teaching elder in the Presbyterian Church of America within 12 months Pathway to Associate Pastor discussed after successful quarterly and year‑end reviews State of California posting notice: Pursuant to the Title VII religious organization exemption, Valley Springs Church (PCA) reserves the right to hire employees who share our religious faith and doctrines.
