Occupational Therapist Assistant

Job Summary The Occupational Therapy Assistant, under the direction of an Occupational Therapist, is responsible for assisting with tests and providing restorative and rehabilitative Occupational Therapy services to participants both at the center and at home. The goal is to maximize participant independence and safety while enhancing the performance of Activities of Daily Living (ADLs). The assistant will collaborate with other members of the rehabilitation team to implement the plan of care established by the Occupational Therapist and will promote team culture and mission values. Job Responsibilities Administer treatment programs as established by the Occupational Therapist. Assist in obtaining vital signs, range of motion, and strength testing. Coordinate with the rehabilitation team to implement activities and programs based on individual treatment plans. Handle scheduling of treatment, clinical visits, and billing. Deliver and document Occupational Therapy interventions according to established care plans, including muscle re-education, perceptual-motor and cognitive function, balance, and endurance activities. Provide training and instructions on the use and care of therapeutic equipment to staff, participants, and caregivers/families. Manage and track maintenance for equipment. Remain alert to input from team members, participants, and caregivers, updating the Occupational Therapist promptly on any changes in participants' condition or functional status. Participate in end-of-life care coordination and support under supervision. Ensure legal authorization to practice in the position location and act within the scope of authority. Complete all required documentation accurately and timely. Protect privacy and maintain confidentiality of all procedures and information. Follow policies and participate in Quality Improvement activities, staff training, and meetings. Communicate regularly with the supervisor and team regarding workload and priorities. Complete all mandated training and occupational health screenings as needed. Exercise flexibility in assignments as business needs evolve. Other duties as assigned. Required Skills & Experience Minimum of two years of experience in a clinical setting with a frail or elderly population. Knowledge and skills necessary to treat elderly participants with complex needs. Highly motivated, self-directed, and able to execute tasks in a quickly changing environment. Excellent clinical, organizational, and communication skills in settings with seniors, their families, and interdisciplinary team members. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Demonstrated ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment. Experience and competency working with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
