Metallography Laboratory Technician

GE HealthCare seeks a Metallography Laboratory Technician to prepare and analyze metallic and powder-based materials through various laboratory methods. The role involves sample preparation, microstructural testing, documentation, equipment maintenance, and supporting quality improvement initiatives in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare metallographic samples through sectioning, mounting, grinding, and polishing for analysis
• Perform materials testing including density measurements, hardness testing, microscopy, and failure analysis
• Maintain laboratory cleanliness, manage inventory, and establish standard work procedures
• Document test results and analyze nonconforming materials for trend identification
• Assist engineers with experiment execution and support Material Review Board activities

Requirements

• Associate degree, technical certification, or high school diploma with 5+ years experience
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic data entry
• Excellent communication and organizational skills for cross-team collaboration
• Ability to prioritize multiple projects and manage laboratory resources
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Metallurgy preferred
• Experience with metallographic preparation techniques and ISO 13485/17025 standards preferred
