Alexium, Inc. ( is a leader in the development and manufacturing of encapsulation, emulsion, and fire-retardant (FR) chemistries used across specialty chemical and advanced materials markets. The Dayton, Ohio facility serves as a critical hub for microencapsulation and phase-change material (PCM) production. The Quality Control Chemist will play a key role in the production and qualification of Alexium’s microencapsulated phase change and flame retardant products and contributing to the advancement of our core microencapsulation technologies. Candidates should possess 1-5 years experience, preferably working in a manufacturing, analytical or research laboratory and demonstrate a strong orientation for process adherence and for identifying issues that effect quality production. Dayton, OH area candidates are our preference and focus. Responsibilities Conduct testing and chemical analyses to support manufacturing & operations, ensuring accuracy and adherence to safety protocols. Analyze and interpret data, draw meaningful conclusions, and prepare detailed reports for project teams and management. Follow and optimize standard testing methods for the characterization and quality control of microencapsulated raw materials and formulated products. Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including but not limited to, calorimetry, chromatography, and various analytical instruments. Maintain thorough and accurate laboratory records, ensuring data integrity and compliance with regulatory standards. Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including chemists, engineers, and project managers, to achieve project objectives. Participate in quality control and assurance activities, ensuring that all products meet regulatory and quality standards. Stay up-to-date with current developments in the field of chemistry, and apply new knowledge to improve processes and methodologies. Qualifications Bachelor’s in chemistry (or Science related) with 1-5 years experience. Prior internships and co-op work can be relevant experience. Prior experience working in a manufacturing, analytical or research laboratory is preferred. USP, FDA, and cGMP Regulations: 1 year (Preferred) Strong knowledge of analytical chemistry principles. Proficiency in laboratory techniques, including calorimetry, chromatography, and wet chemistry methods. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings clearly and concisely. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. Familiarity with regulatory guidelines and quality control practices is advantageous. Commitment to safety and adherence to laboratory protocols.
