Registered Nurse Wound Care

Act as a consultant, educator, and researcher in enterostomal therapy and wound care management Establish objectives, goals, and priorities for selected patients/families, nursing staff education, and organizational objectives Consult, assess patients, respond to needs, and offer recommendations for continued treatment Assess, plan, and implement patient/family care; evaluate interventions and revise care plans Develop and implement patient/family teaching tools and programs Develop, maintain, and distribute priority lists of active protocols to participating physicians Formulate hospital policies and procedures relevant to enterostomal therapy and wound care Advocate for patients throughout enterostomal/wound care services Identify areas for clinical studies and promote or conduct investigations Identify discharge needs and refer patients/families to appropriate agencies Receive and review newly activated protocols, amendments, notices, suspensions, and terminations from the principal investigator Serve as a resource for nursing staff in enterostomal and wound care nursing Requirements Bachelor’s Degree Nursing 3 years experience in Enterostomal Therapy 3 years experience in Medical/Surgical Nursing Competency to provide care to neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients Knowledge of computer skills Ability to effectively interact with hospital management, staff, physicians, patients, families, and the general public Excellent verbal and written communication skills American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification, State of Pennsylvania Wound Care Certified (WCC) certification from NAWC, State of Pennsylvania, within 90 days Pennsylvania driver's license Ability to lift and carry 25 lbs. Frequent sitting/standing and keyboard use Ability to perform role-specific patient care activities including kneeling, bending, squatting, and CPR Core Competencies Demonstrates expertise in Enterostomal Therapy and Wound Care Management, with a strong focus on patient assessment, care planning, and education. Capable of developing protocols and policies while effectively collaborating with healthcare teams and advocating for patient needs.
