Enterprise Architect Divisional Lead

We’re actively seeking a talented Enterprise Architect to join our Enterprise Architecture team in Newport Beach, CA or Charlotte, NC. The role involves spearheading technology direction, adoption, and experimentation within our Workforce Benefits Division (WBD).

As the Enterprise Architect overseeing architecture in WBD, you’ll help move Pacific Life forward by advancing the division’s groundbreaking leadership in Workforce Benefits and enhancing our reputation for excellence in the marketplace. You will sit on a team of six senior leaders, including the Division CIO, the Project Portfolio Director, and the Head of Platform Operations.

Responsibilities

• Analyze global trends in technology use across the insurance industry and identify potential disruptive influences.
• Study business contexts and the interconnection of business and technology capabilities.
• Provide advisory and consulting services, serve on technology decision‑making committees, and act as a trusted expert in the relationship between business and technology.
• Engage at the transformation ideation phase, developing and iterating architecture solution designs for key initiatives and special projects.
• Ensure that Solution Architects develop low‑level designs that adhere to architecture governance.

Qualifications

• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in business, computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, system analysis, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Broad experience in financial services or insurance, with deep knowledge in at least three domains (Business, Applications, Data, Integration, Infrastructure, Security). Workplace Benefits experience is a plus.
• Strong behavioral skills: consensus building, communication, facilitation, negotiation, relationship building, and a working knowledge of business/operating/financial models.
• 15+ years of progressive technology experience, including 7.5+ years as an Architect.
• Technical team leadership experience is a plus.

• Pragmatic understanding of how to apply machine learning, large language models, agentic AI, retrieval‑augmented generation, and related technologies to real‑world business opportunities.

Base Pay Range

$167,850.00 – $205,150.00 (actual compensation depends on experience, qualifications, and location; most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay).
